PMC is introducing the P1 high-mass Loudspeaker Stand, a substantial, low-resonance platform ideal for the prodigy1 and prophecy1. Standing 600mm (24 inches) high, it positions the loudspeakers at the optimum listening height while providing the rigid, stable foundation required for precise, revealing performance.
PMC has long recognised the detrimental effect that unwanted vibration can have on loudspeaker performance. The P1 addresses this through substantial steel construction, twin large-diameter support columns and a precision-engineered constrained-layer damping top plate incorporating a viscoelastic polymer that absorbs and dissipates unwanted vibrational energy.
The revealing nature and high resolution of PMC loudspeakers means improvements to their mechanical foundation can be readily heard. With the P1, more micro-detail and low-level information can emerge, imaging becomes more precisely focused and bass gains greater definition and control, allowing the musical performance to be reproduced with greater realism and involvement. These benefits are particularly easy to appreciate during audition.
Four isolation pads provide a secure, controlled interface between loudspeaker and stand, while adjustable M8 spikes beneath the 4mm steel base plate allow accurate levelling and firm coupling to the floor.
Both large-diameter columns can be mass-loaded using widely available specialist stand-filling materials, giving owners the opportunity to fine-tune the stand to suit their loudspeakers, room and personal listening preferences.
