AT8022

innovative coincident capsule configuration

Ideal for video camera-mount use, stereo field recording, interviews and home recording, Audio-Technica's versatile AT8022 stereo condenser offers a compact housing and the pristine sound quality of a live sound field. Its coincident capsule configuration produces an X/Y stereo image in a small housing. The microphone is supplied with two cables for use with either pro or consumer gear. It offers switchable low-frequency roll-off and the convenience of battery or phantom power.

In symmetrical mode the Y-shaped cable has two XLR connectors that allow for phantom powering the microphone. In asymmetrical mode, it requires the use of an AA battery and a 3.5mm mini-jack output connector.

The AT8022 is thus the most professional broadcast microphone for use on camera, digital recorder or DSLR.

  • Unique innovative capsule configuration produces accurate stereo image in smaller housing
  • Stereo 120 ° opening angle
  • "Double Diaphragm Wave" Capsule structure
  • Very low noise level
  • Highly versatile, the AT8022 can be used in the studio or on location
  • Its compact, lightweight design is perfect for video camera-mount use as well as for stereo field recording, interviews and home recording
  • Switchable low-frequency roll-off 80 Hz with a slope of 18 dB / octave
  • Reproduces a very natural stereo image
  • Operates on battery or phantom power - for use with pro or consumer equipment
  • Includes two cables: one balanced (two 3-pin XLRM-type connectors at output); one unbalanced (3.5 mm TRS at output)

“parallel coincident capsules”

The AT8022 is equipped with two 21mm diameter capsules mounted in a 180° parallel back-to-back configuration. This proprietary stereo principle developed by Audio-Technica offers a fairly wide stereo angle (instead of two capsules at 90°) which saves space.

“double wave diaphragm”

The AT8022's diaphrahms are doubly embossed: a hexagonal shape and a relief print. By using this manufacturing principle patented by Audio-Technica, the stability of the membrane is thereby increased, and unwanted noise is kept at bay.

“ROBUST all metal Construction”

Robust, all metal construction, ideal for use in professional broadcast environments.

120° stereo angle

Between the upper portions of the parallel capsules is a damper, which makes it possible to change the angle; up to a 120° opening for an expanded stereo image without central gaps.

parallel diaphragms

The AT8022 is equipped with two 21mm diameter capsules mounted in a 180° parallel back-to-back configuration. The membranes are of 16.3mm diameter and are to a thickness of 2 microns.

extremely versatile

Ideal for stereo field recording, interviews and home recording, the highly versatile AT8022 is both compact and lightweight and is ideal for compact handheld or video camera-mount use.

comes with two cables

In symmetrical mode the Y-shaped cable has two XLR connectors that allow for phantom powering the microphone. In asymmetrical mode, it requires the use of an AA battery and a 3.5mm mini-jack output connector.
